TCA Peel

TCA peels are an option provided by your dermatologist to treat hypermentation, improve the texture of leathery sun damaged skin, treat acne, and reduce fine lines. TCA peels work by using the non-toxic chemical trichloracetic acid to peel away the layer of damaged skin. This approach is often successful in treating melasma since it works deeper than just on the surface of the skin. When a TCA peel is applied to the skin it causes the top layers of the skin to peel away over the course of days or a week revealing the underneath layers of healthy, glowy, and youthful looking skin. A TCA peel can be done from shallow to deep layers and are most often used on the face, chest, back, arms and legs. Lighter level TCA peels can be done in a few sessions, usually 2-3 for optimal results.

TCA peels usually take about 30 minutes and patients can expect redness, and tightness in the following days. Most individuals peel for about a week and see improvements in the appearance of their skin within 30 days. It is important to keep in mind that you will be especially sensitive to sunlight following your TCA peel so stay shaded and wear plenty of sunscreen.
