Most often the “boils” we see in the office are caused by staph bacteria and require drainage and antibiotics. They can be contagious and should be promptly treated. Sometimes patients think they have been bitten by a spider, but in reality it was a staph infection all along. If you feel like you have this, please call the office to get worked in ASAP and tell the front desk you suspect you have a boil or abscess. We will try to accommodate you as these can be quite painful.
